Smorgasburg is seeking an experienced General Manager to for the re-launch of an existing 200-seat outdoor beer garden concept on the waterfront in Jersey City.
We are looking for someone with knowledge of the New Jersey food and bar scene, the ability to build and manage a seasonal service and administrative team, proven professional accomplishments and a commitment to providing great service at a high-volume location. This concept is beverage focussed, with food provided by temporary food partners TBD.
Smorgasburg will also be opening a Saturday-only food market next door to this location.
Our new General Manager will develop the character, operation, daily procedures and industry relationships required for the success of this project, with support from the executive levels of the company.
This is a full-time job starting immediately upon hiring, with involvement in all aspects of project development and launch.
Here’s What You Would Do:
Establish a business plan including financial, marketing and sales projections and strategy.
Prepare and roll out a project timeline towards the target opening date TBD (mid-late June 2021).
Hire a FOH and BOH team, as well as administrative support staff.
Strategize and lead launch/roll-out PR plan and ongoing marketing activities
Develop customer engagement and customer experience plans
Creatively establish beverage program in conjunction with relevant members of staff that is suited to the venue and clientele.
Lead development of pop-up food program
Establish compliance and develop protocols relating to licensing & permitting (DOH, JCFD, etc)
Establish a staff code of conduct, staffing policies, operational protocols and technological support systems fitting a large venue with multiple seating areas, multiple service points, large groups of patrons, and so on.
Develop crowd control, safety and emergency response procedures
Develop COVID protocols and best practices and continually adjust as necessary
Maintain local B2B and landlord relationships
Staff and oversee planning and execution of occasional experiential or promotional events
Lead efforts in sustainability and reduction of environmental and community impact of large F&B venue
Your Strengths Include:
Dedication to customer satisfaction
Comfortable in high-volume sales and high capacity venue
Financial planning and strategy
Network of vendors, contractors and entertainment resources in the surrounding area
Creative marketing and special events
At least 5 years in leadership roles in the restaurant industry, including GM
Proven record of operational excellence across all aspects of F&B venue
Experience managing large teams
Experience budgeting, tracking, and reporting financials
Ability to start immediately
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $6,000.00 – $8,000.00 per month
Venue will adjust to changing COVID-19 restrictions in place for the state of New Jersey.
