Job Description

We are looking for an energetic, outgoing, conscientious and responsible Barista to prepare and serve hot and cold beverages, including various types of coffee and tea specialty drinks. Barista responsibilities include making stellar drinks, educating customers on our menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, up-selling special items and taking orders. Ultimately open/close shop. To be successful in this role, you should have customer service skills and knowledge of how brewing equipment operates. You should be able to work various shifts. Responsibilities include monitoring daily operations, inventory, counting out, assisting with ordering supplies like coffee, milk and snacks, as needed, keeping all areas tidy and sanitary, sticking shelves and prepping for the next day. To be successful in this role you should have work experience with various roles in coffee shops including key holder and/or management experience. You should be available to work during opening hours, including weekends and some holidays. Ultimately, you will help increase profitability, boost customer engagement and help turn our café into a favorite local spot.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly as they arrive
Show customers drink menus and answer their questions regarding ingredients
Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)
Prepare beverages following instructions from management
Serve beverages and prepared food, like cookies, pastries and muffins. Occasionally prepare food on site.
Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)
Keep the bar area and all areas of the shop clean and sanitary, including equipment, kitchen area and bathroom
Maintain stock of cups, lids, sugar, napkins etc. receive packages and restock shelves accordingly.
Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs to management right away.
Open and close shop as instructed by management
Report issues with equipment or in other areas or the shop
Comply with health and safety regulations especially regarding Covid-19
Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items
Open/Close shop per management instructions.

Skills

Responsible and courteous
Previous work experience as a Barista/Keyholder and/or manager
Hands-on experience with brewing equipment/manual cappuccino machine
Knowledge of sanitation regulations
Flexibility to work various shifts
Basic math skills
Ability to gauge customers’ preferences
Excellent communication skills
Outgoing Personality
High school diploma required. Some college preferred. Relevant training is a MUST.
